A New Face in Smart Home Technology
Brio Safe Outlets – Smart Outlets – Each year thousands of children suffer severe shock and burns when they stick items into the slots of electrical outlets. Nearly one-third of these injuries are the result of small children placing ordinary household objects, such as keys, pins, or paperclips into the outlets with disastrous consequences.
Typical electrical outlets are always live with 120V of electricity, but Brio Safe Outlets are always off. Brio wall units only deliver dangerous electrical current when they sense a plug – not a person or pet. When something enters the outlet, Brio determines if the object is a proper plug. If Brio detects that the object is not a plug, it will not release current.
Once the outlet knows that there is a plug inserted, it switches into a 24V “sensing” mode. In this mode, the outlet uses embedded sensors to confirm that the device being plugged in has the proper resistance. Brio can tell the difference between the resistance generated by a lamp, and that of a human finger, and will only release a full 120V to an appliance that needs power.
The Brio Safe Outlet smart technology confirms the validity of the load and only then will Brio switch from safe to normal mode.
Brio Home Safety System – The Brio Smart Outlet wall unit home safety system uses a network of wireless tokens positioned throughout your home within range of the smart outlet and monitors your home around the clock. Each of these “high-tech helpers” is a specialist, designed to detect things like smoke, water and carbon monoxide (CO). When they detect smoke, water or harmful carbon monoxide gas, these tokens send a signal to the Brio Outlet wall unit, which instantly communicates with your Brio mobile app so you can react quickly and effectively. If your phone is off, or not in reach, the sensors will alert you with an audio alarm.

Brio smart outlets employ state-of-the-art microelectronics to tell between things that need power and people that need protection. It can also use advanced wireless innovations and mobile technology to create a complete 24/7 home monitoring system that virtually eliminates shock hazards, plus keeps people safer by alerting them to things like smoke, flooding and the presence of carbon monoxide. Brio can make your home as safety-smart as you.
